Rex is a Lazy Lion in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Doubutsu no Mori, and after his appearance in Doubutsu no Mori e+, he did not appear from the Animal Crossing: Wild World to the Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but reappeared in the Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. Data for him exists in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer but ultimately remains unused. He is the only Lazy Lion the series. His English name comes from the Latin word "rex," which means "king," relating to the common metaphor that lions are "kings of the jungle."

In New Horizons, Rex has the nature hobby and may be found reading a book pertaining to an item he is studying, which can be either flowers, bugs, fish, or fossils.

Rex is an orange lion with a brown mane. He has three freckles on both of his cheeks, and a dark brown nose. He has half-closed eyes with purple eyelids.
