Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the sequel to Animal Crossing: City Folk and was released for the 3DS.
Unlike the previous part of the Animal Crossing series, the player can now assume the role of a villager, as well as manage the village as its mayor. There was also an island feature that was present in the early game.
The game was re-released with a slightly different cover under the name "Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo". This version of the game already contains an update to version 1.4.0 which adds amiibo compatibility. For older versions of the game, the update is available as a free download starting November 2, 2016.
