Tex is a Smug Penguin in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and has appeared in all subsequent games. He is the only Smug Penguin the series. His English name may be a pun on "tuxedo," a suit that bears a resemblance to a penguin's feathers. His English name may also relate to his English catchphrase, "picante," which is Spanish for "spicy," since Tex-Mex cuisine tends to incorporate spicy food. His English catchphrase contrasts with cold, something which penguins are associated with.

In New Horizons, Tex has the music hobby and may sing anywhere without the need of a stereo.
