Phil is a Smug Ostrich in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and has appeared in all subsequent games except Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. He is the only Smug Ostrich the series. His English name likely comes from "pheasant." His Japanese name may come from keen, a call made by male pheasants to advertise their territory. His English catchphrase may be a reference to a bird's call. Similarly, his Japanese English catchphrase is the cry of a pheasant.

In New Horizons, Phil has the music hobby and may sing anywhere without the need of a stereo.

Appearance

Phil is predominantly an indigo ostrich with a green bottom and brown and yellow feathers on his wings and tail. His beak and legs are a pale yellow color. He also has a red marking around his eyes, resembling a pheasant's wattle.
