Melba is a Normal Koala in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Animal Crossing: Wild World and has appeared in all subsequent games. Her English name may be a reference to the Australian city of Melbourne, while her Japanese name and Korean Name, Adelaide, likely comes from the Australian city of Adelaide, as koalas are native to Australia. She shares this trait with Alice, Canberra, and Sydney, who are also female Koalas named after cities in Australia. Melba's English name and English catchphrase, toasty, may relate to Melba toast - a dry, crisp, and thinly-sliced piece of toast that originated and is popular in Australia.

In New Horizons, Melba has the education hobby and can be seen wearing rimmed glasses, reading a novel while outside, and using a magnifying glass when near certain objects.

Appearance

Melba is a light brown koala. She has white inner ears and turns pinkish near the bottom. She has a large brown and white nose. She has small dark blue eyes, a very lightly brushed pink blush, and a cat-like mouth similar to that of Punchy. Canberra, who debuted in New Leaf, greatly resembles Melba.
